Volunteering
New Volunteers are always welcome at Colchester Samaritans. We need 'listening volunteers' who will be able to support our callers and we also need 'non listening' volunteers to support our fundraising efforts.
Listening volunteers receive excellent training to enable them to develop their existing skills as well as learn some useful new ones.
Non listening volunteers are also essential to our service because they provide much needed help for our fundraising team. All skills are welcome and the amount of time you contribute as a non listening volunteer is as little or as much as you want to give.
Whichever type of volunteer you become you will:
- Be supporting those who need Samaritans
- Doing something worthwhile
- Make new friends
To find out more about being a Samaritan Volunteer why not come to one of our Information Evenings. These informal events start at 7.30 pm and last about 90 minutes. They are a great opportunity to meet existing Samaritan Volunteers, find out why they do it and what they get out of being a volunteer. It is also a chance find out what is involved, ask questions and just as important, find out what's in it for you. Then you will be able to decide which type of volunteer you would like to be.
If you would like an invitation to one of our information evenings you can either :-
- Send us an email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it with your name and contact detailsĀ and we will send you an invitation.
- Phone or text our volunteering hotline on 07852 979319. Leave / text your contact details and we will send you an invitation.
We look forward to welcoming you to our Centre in Vineyard Street.
